"Holy hell..." William slowed his hurry, and paced over to a bench. "I can't believe I didn't recognize it on the way in." He set his pack down on a bench, and adjusted his straps so his guns jostled less as he ran. The harness on the small of his back was bare, so he packed his shotgun onto the slot for it, and surveyed the area lazily.
"I haven't been here since I went to college." In his head, the buzz in his head to cover his flanks faded a little. "I miss my old college days."
Behind him, the wind picked up, leaves scratched along the sidewalks. He glanced over his shoulder, keeping track of the movements in the area. The late evening light made it hard to see, but William didn't feel terribly vulnerable outside right now. This was familiar territory for him, it was a comfortable place. He flopped next to his pack on the bench, and allowed himself some rest in the cold, evening breeze. The drizzle rained slowly from the clouds, and William had forgotten how a cold winter evening could feel without a care in the world.
Another jostling, this time, the wind never blew. Leaves were breaking. "Oh crap!" Another crunch of the leaves sounded off at the same time as his shotgun snap. The shotgun came free of the holster, and he raised it to his shoulder. "Hell... Aw hell." His heart rate skyrocketed, and he could feel the blood flow in his ears. All of his senses suddenly caught on fire. He listened desperately for anything else, but all he could hear now was the occasion gust of wind, and the beating of blood in his ears.
Something hit him hard and fast. The shotgun went off into the air. He was forced onto the ground. He rolled twice, then slammed his opponent in the throat with the barrel of his shotgun. The assailant gurgled, and rolled away from William. William was already pushing himself to his feet. He snapped his arm out in hasty striking motion. The shotgun impacted someone, hard, and left a numbing pain in his hand. He snapped the hand back so his gun wouldn't get stolen. His grip fell apart as he withdrew his weapon arm and the gun clattered off of the sidewalk, into the leaves.
The assailant made another dart in for an attack. William was ready this time, and caught him in a low-body tackle. He wretched himself down, and directed the blow upward. The assailant wasn't ready for that, and got hurled upward. William was hauling himself to his feet again, unsnapping his sidearm and firing a half-clip into the darkness. The 9mm barked gamely in the gardens, shattering the evening calm with gunfire. The assailant found his feet, but dropped low again when he heard the gunfire.
"Wait!" The prone form called out, voice deep and scratched. "I give up."
William was crouched, gun wavering on the top of the prone form's head. "What do you want?"
"I..." He hesitated, "I'm a thief. I had planned to steal your guns and ammo."
William was still crouched low, but was already engaging his safety. "Alright, I'll let you go. If you work with a ring, instruct them all to leave me be. Go now..." William re-holstered his sidearm and walked back to his pack to start reloading his clip. He heard a short rasp, a rustle in the leaves, then someone pumping a new chamber in a shotgun. "Oh hell..." William took a leap over the bench, hitting the leaves at a roll. His hand grappled his still un-snapped handgun and toward the thief. He fired a shot forward, over the bench, which made William flinch, then the thief took off into the darkness. William sprang to his feet and emptied the rest of the clip into the darkness.
Four shots later, the silence was his only companion in the gardens. He hurried to his pack, ejected his empty clip into one of the zippered pouches in his pack. One of three full clips from the pack found a new home in his gun, and he re-holstered. He drew his back-up shotgun, sawed-off, and holstered it. He had to move quick, in case the thief decided that a shotgun would be enough to take the rest of his pack. He shouldered it quickly, tightened his straps, checked that all his weapons were tightened-in, ready, and prepared for combat. Then he took off into the night, tightening his straps so that he ghosted along the sidewalk.
He wasn't ready for another fight, and he was still mourning the loss of his shotgun.

Aithne hated being cooped up inside, but the forest was a bit off limits at the moment. Even if Queen Anna had spoken with the werewolves, she wasn't about to try her luck. Thus, she found the grounds of the castle a fairly safe place to take a walk for the evening.
Still, she had put the trauma plates in her bullet proof vest that night. She had kind of been lost in the quietness of the whole night when the gunshots in the distance interrupted her train of thought. Now that she focused on it, she could feel that same familiar paranoia getting closer and closer.
The baker rested her hand on the high powered handgun at her side not because she was worried about William, but what was following him if he kept coming her way.

*Anna watched them from a distance. She was a little tired of this William running around her city with his guns. She wanted him out. His presence felt threatening to the rest of her subjects. But she didn't know what he would bring with him. He could be useful in the end. She approached him. She could sense Aithne coming too.*
I understand that you caused a scene in my offices. What is it that you need?

William slowed his sprint, there was a vampire in front of him. She spoke... Anna.
Hell... What was she doing here? Blowing him off in the office, then meeting him out here. There was potential attackers, muggers, and thieves behind him, he wasn't looking forward to dealing with them should they want more of his hard-earned guns.
And he didn't want any more hard-earned scars.
"Hello, Anna. Nice of you to blow me off in your office, then creep up on me in the dark while I'm possibly being tailed by a thief, maybe even a group of thieves. One of them has a shotgun, at the very least."
He checked his six, then turned back to the vampire. "Any conversation I had planned on having seems kinda non-important in an open field in the dark. I could reschedule with your office, but you tend to ignore me when we're there."
He turned once last, "I'll be at your office tomorrow night. Now unlike your immortal highness, I tend to get killed to death whenever people with shotguns shoot me. It's been a wonderful talk, we should do it again. Preferably not in the dark, outside, completely open to any and all of the world's hazards."
He began running again, turning his head only a little to finish with, "Besides, you'd catch a cold."

*Anna didn't like to be told when she would meet with someone. Besides, didn't this silly mortal know that no one would attack him if he was with her? Vampires, however violent and ruthless they were, always respected power and authority.*
I don't think I was finished talking to you, Mr. Savante.
*She blocked his path.*
No one will hurt you while I am here. I'm queen after all. And you didnt even give me the chance to apologize for not being in my office.

Aithne walked up on the two exchanging words, but didn't get close enough to hear what they were saying. She kept her distance. Part of her didn't really care much what they were talking about, another part was not looking forward to the headache that his paranoid thoughts were going to give her. Instead, she folded her hands behind her back (very close to the pistol strapped to her lower back) and waited patiently for them to finish.

The baker jumped slightly as her cell phone began vibrating in her pocket. Sometimes she was too paranoid herself. "Talk to me," she said. A few moments passed. "No, I'm not home...you're on your way now? Well, you might beat me there. I'll see you." She gave the vampire queen and the nervous wreck a final glance before heading towards her own home.
(( I got an idea, but I needed Aithne at home.))

William skidded to a halt, the air in front of his felt wrong. Too stale. He kicked a small rock, and it bounced off the open sky. A barrier. Anna's, no doubt.
He turned back to her, glaring. "Anna, I think you're having a little trouble understanding me here. I'm being chased by mortal thieves. They aren't under your control, or protection. They may not even be aware of you." He watched the darkness beyond Anna, and saw a retreating form, and tracked it until it was out of sight. "So while you may offer your protection while we talk, and maybe even have the power to protect me if an organized attack were to spring."
He checked the darkness again, empty. No one was coming, or so it seemed. He'd been surprised before. "But if some mortal comes out of the dark quoting Scarface and opening up with an M16, or an AK-47. All it takes is a good two shots to kill me. Three to kill me harder. And while that mortal will die a painful death for tearing a bullet-sized hole in your ankle, I'll have two new air-vents right along my hairline."
He withdrew his shotgun, and rammed it into her chest, "Now let's be reasonable. You have a heart that still works, I have with me right here the means to explode it out of your chest at 300 feet per second. Now, remove the barrier, let us reschedule a meeting so neither of us are at risk of dying, and probably someplace spacious and well-lit so we can flail our arms around a lot more and scream if someone shoots at us. Now, drop the barrier."
After a short pause, he thought, "And if I so much as feel my shotgun start to lift out of my hand, I might twitch over the trigger, and that would be bad... Mostly for you."

*Frustrated with the stupid mortal, Anna lifted the barrier. Then, she did as he requested and threw him past it. He landed on the ground fifteen feet away from her with a thud.*
Keep in mind, Mr. Savante, that I have the power to kill you with a word. Bring your guns onto my grounds again, and there will be a hell to pay so horrible that you cannot even imagine it. I will meet with you. Afterwards, I will hope very much not to see your face or your toys in my city again, for your own sake.
*And then, she disappeared. Melanie was already trailing the other man. Anna hoped she wouldn't have to ask Melanie's help to kill this one.*

The air shifted, William could feel it. Suddenly, the ground slipped out from under him. The wind stung on his ears, he was midair. He turned, Anna was glaring at him, then she disappeared. He turned, and saw the ground growing very rapidly.
William turned his body rapidly and rolled twice, bouncing and skidding against the brick sidewalk. He ended up among the mud and leaves, laying sore and tired in the cold evening. He pulled himself up, "Crazy-ass vampires."
He turned, no one was around anymore. It was just him, light was poking through the clouds from the moon. He trudged away from the grounds, after taking a minute to recover his shotgun. "Crazy, insane, selfish vampires."
He left the grounds behind, and moved to secure his position for a few nights rest. He needed it.

*Supra removed his coat and shook away the water. It had been quite a long time since Supra had done that much swimming. He looked up at the sky and saw that the weather was getting pretty bad, and he wasn't sure of what kind of shelter he could find in time.*
*Just then, he heard a loud whistling sound. He turned and saw a bright light racing toward the sky. He wondered if maybe someone was celebrating something. Supra decided to make his way back to the Brewery and wait for Terry to arrive with the new boards. As he was walking, he saw someone coming toward him. He sensed a familiar presence.*
"You shoulda stayed dead..."
*It was Gachemage, but something was different about him.*
"You kept us from the hunt for 3 days, and now you're gonna pay. See, I been thinking. Ever since you been here, my boys have been going hungry, so I'm thinking I need to make you not here."
*Supra thought back and remembered his first encounter with the wolves. Strangely, he didn't even mention when Supra had murdered that group attacking the woman.*
"I been waitin till the time was right. That witch woman can't do nothing for you now. I made my boys keep her out there while I deal with you here, and now you're gonna die."
*The change began very quickly, but this was different than before. After he bent over, Gachemage seemed to double in size. The hair on his body grew rapidly and had thick patches on his chest and back. His shirt and shoes apart as they could no longer contain his massive feet and torso. He straightened out to reveal that his face had stretched out into a long snout with huge fangs and his eyes began to glow white. His ears jutted straight up and more hair grew thickly behind his head. He let out a howl. Supra had never seen the werewolves get so big. This must be what they were like when the moon was full. The werewolf began charging toward him. He held up his hand to stop him but the werewolf's will was too strong. Supra used his other hand and really focused on stopping him, and he did. Supra could see, however, that his hold was already starting to weaken. The monster glared at Supra as he resisted his hold.*
Unbelievable. Do all werewolves have this much willpower?
*Supra looked around and saw a tree. He released Gachemage and quickly uprooted the tree and swung it at the beast. Gachemage staggered a bit after the blow, but quickly shook it off and started toward Supra again. Supra hit him 5 more times when he felt a drop of water on his face.*
Oh God... no... *In a panic, he uprooted everything in the area and sent it at the werewolf as fast as he could, trying to pin against the nearby building. Gachemage was strong but he couldn't resist all of the massive objects coming at him. Supra kept pounding at the pile or debris until it started to rain and Supra lost his hold on the tree and everything else. He hoped that the monster was dead, but his instincts were telling him otherwise, and he thought he saw some of the bricks moving at the top. Without his abilities, Supra decided to flee for his life.*
