*It wasn't long after Supra approached the village gate that he felt the rush of panic coming from several people inside the village.*
I suppose this couldn't be helped.
*After a moment, the shuffling stopped and there were quite a few people just watching him and waiting from the gate, trying to stay out of sight.*
Aren't any of you at least going to speak to me? It's not like I don't know you're there and if I were here to harm any of you it wouldn't be difficult for me.
~That's the one that hurt Bennett. Don't trust him.~
*Supra remembered the old hunter with the gun. His fear and memories are still experienced while Supra sleeps.*
Yeah, I'm sorry about that. He was trying to shoot me and...
*Supra stopped speaking because several minds flared up at once, reacting to his response to a though. Some of them were running back for weapons, some were getting ready to start shooting. Supra couldn't believe it, how could so many people living here get so scared just because of what he was.*
Are you kidding me? Is this how you greet everyone who comes here? That's stupid.
*Supra needed to show them that they were no threat to him, but at the same time he didn't want to hurt anyone or destroy anything. The village was surrounded in a series of logs with pointy ends, not unlike the old civil war forts. While he could have uprooted the whole thing, he decided to just yank the gate off its hinges. As soon as he could see the people, he forced the guns to hover harmlessly above their reach.*
You can't stop me, just stay out of my way please.
*The villagers weren't very organized, and their weapons were only hunting rifles and a few handguns. At most, only two people had their guns loaded and were positioned to fire at any given time, so it was very easy for Supra to take their guns and add it to his collection floating in the air. A few people even rushed him with farming tools and kitchen knives. He just pushed them away.*
*This was getting irritating, these scared people kept coming at him and there was no sign of what he had come for. He was looking for the man whose daughter brought him food while he was being held. He'd hoped to find more reasonable people in the village but that wasn't looking too promising at the moment. He needed to think of some kind of plan. Then a little boy came out and dumped a bucket of water on him.*
*Suddenly, Supra stopped in his tracks with a look of horror on his face.*
No! I'm melting! Melting! Oh, what a world, what a world! I'm melting! Ah!
*The tips of his fingers went first, it was as if the bones were slowly disappearing inside his hand. It continued up his arm to about hid elbow before he lost his balance. While trying to regain it, he tripped over his own shoes which remained on the ground where he was as fell down face first. He curled into the fetal position and before too much longer all that was left were his clothes. The people couldn't believe it, how could that actually work on a witch? They couldn't deny, however, what was before their eyes. A few people came up and cautiously prodded at the coat. When someone touched it, it would flash green and start to hum loudly, which made them back away from it almost immediately.*
*Supra was sitting in the middle of road with his eyes closed. He was concentrating on two things: maintaining the illusion that he'd been reduced to nothing by a splash of water, and searching for that little girl. He found her after a moment. As it turned out, there was another house that was on the outside of the wall by the river. Now all he had to do was wait for enough people to leave so he could make his way there. Unfortunately, there were quite a few paranoid people carefully watching Supra's "remains."*

*Supra couldn't believe the resilience of the townsfolk. He's had to maintain the facade for 2 whole days now, and it had become much more dangerous. The paranoid villagers watching the coat became at least 4 armed men in white robes with guns focused on it. Supra had been banking on it being more paranoia, but since they've been exchanging shifts and holding strong even in the middle of the night, it seemed a lot more like someone knew what was happening.*
*The illusion was not difficult to maintain, but Supra was tired. The only thing keeping him from dozing off was the fear that once the illusion dropped, the men would open fire. If he had only acted sooner, he'd feel more confidant at taking them on. The men's minds were completely blank and had remained that way consistently the whole time, that fact alone made Supra uneasy. Who were these people? He began to hear sounds of a monastery. Huge ranks of people in white robes just walking around with their heads down. Coming to a stop in a large courtyard where a large bell sounds and they hit themselves with planks of wood.*
*No! Supra had to stay awake. He couldn't afford to let himself go under. He struggled for something to focus on, but someone must have moved the people out of the village because he couldn't find anything except the blank minds eying him. Either that or he was unable to even stretch out in his state. He saw a woman dead under the feet of one of the men in white, someone in armor approached him.*
"Hey! He's not praying, he must've done this!"
*The man in white takes off and proceeds to climb buildings and dive into wheel barrows of hay.*
*Supra shakes his head. This was a losing battle. Supra decided he'd try and move away while holding the image in place. He stood up and opened his eyes, but as soon as he did, he saw several large men in full plate mail surrounding him tightly. He wouldn't have even been able to take a step. How was that possible? No one could get that close without him being able to sense them. There was no time to ponder such questions, as one of them had just hit him in the back of the head. Supra stumbled to the ground. He thought he saw the image of the pope walking toward him before he went out completely.*

*Foolish man. Melanie watched from her usual position in a tree as the scene unfolded before her. She could help him, but how would she know what he was capable of if she didn't let him figure things out on his own?*

Ugh... now where am I?
*Supra wasn't a big fan of being beat up then abducted, and this was the second time these people had done this to him.*
"Ah, so you're finally awake. I don't appreciate you coming in and roughing up my little protectorate society."
*Supra woke up in a small white room. The floor, ceiling, and all of the walls were thickly padded but the room was otherwise devoid of objects. His eyes were telling him that there were 3 other people in the room, but his mind could sense none of them. 2 of them were heavily armored guys just like the ones who clobbered him earlier, and the last one was a largely built man dressed in a white suit and tie and a red dress shirt.*
Are you the one that did this to me?
"Calm yourself... I've simply taken you to a place where you can do no further harm."
*Supra had to take a moment. Why couldn't he sense these people? Were they somehow able to block his powers? He didn't feel grounded like before though.*
"Nothing to say? Then listen to me, I cannot allow someone like you to disrupt my protectorate. So you can either submit to me or I'll erase you."
Sorry, I like my freedom to much to submit to anyone, and I can't let you "erase" me either. Looks like I'd better just be going then.
"Going? What makes you think you're getting out of here alive?"
*Supra had enough of his ego. He lifted his hand to push this man against the wall, but he wouldn't budge.
What?
*The 2 men beside him then approached and Supra forced them against the wall. His abilities were still his it seemed.*
Let's try this then.
*Supra threw one of the men into the smug gentlemen, but instead of hitting him it passed right through.*
That's impossible...
"You cannot harm me, and the walls prevent my Protectors from coming to harm as well. Goodbye, insect."
*The well dressed man vanished, and what followed was a strange series of lunges and presses. The armored men continued to attack while Supra pushed them against the wall. He tried lifting them up and dropping them on their heads, but they hardly reacted to even that. He tried to remove the helmets, but there was far too much resistance for him to risk accidentally removing their heads in the process. He certainly didn't want to kill them, they were probably just lackeys. He decided to target the walls instead. Each attempt to blast the walls away met with enormous resistance, like trying to move the whole Earth. The padding must've been biological too, because each section that was destroyed just grew back like some kind of fungus. He then tried to blast at the ceiling instead, that's when he finally found a weaker section at the corner of the room. He ripped the fungus away from that spot and found a hatch. He opened the hatch and sent one of the large men into the wall and smashed the other against him directly below the hatch. Supra then took a couple of steps back and ran at them. Using his forward momentum, he climbed up one's back and leaped at the opening. Holding on for dear life he then forced the 2 men to the other side of the room and began to climb out.*
"My congratulations, you are a far greater nuisance that I originally though. I'll not be so merciful next time."
*Supra ignored him and started to climb up. It was a metal chute that was completely vertical, and Supra had to struggle a bit to climb. It went on for what seemed like hours, but eventually he made it to another hatch. He blasted the hatch revealing a hallway lit evenly by florescent lighting. There was another armored man patrolling the halls between Supra and an elevator at the other end. Supra was no longer at a disadvantage however, and threw the armored man back to the other side of the hall. The elevator has several buttons inside, he pressed the one marked "C" and rode it up. As the door opened, several small objects came into the elevator. Were they grenades?! Supra quickly forced them back out and heard a loud explosion. The smoke was very thick and he didn't trust his mind to find anyone so he thrust his hand in front of him, picked a direction, and ran. What followed were more loud noises as tables, chair, and even walls came down before him. Eventually he was outside again. Behind him was a rather large home surrounded by a stone wall. He could finally sense someone else.*
~He got out on his own. Maybe I won't need to do anything after all.~
*Supra looked in the direction of the thought.*
~Oh can you read me? If you can them come to where I am, but leave the property first. As long as you're there, he's watching you.~
*Supra decided to act first and ask questions later. He left the area and then proceeded to make his way to that person he was sensing.*

*It was getting pretty late. Supra had finally met with the man who guided him. He was a middle aged native American man with a large build, but it was more natural looking, unlike the man from the mansion. His face was cleanly shaved and his hair was slightly longer than average and had grayed somewhat. Once he saw Supra, he shook his hand and quickly beckoned him to follow.*
"You sure are a piece of work. My name's Terry Sanders, you've already met my daughter, Kyra."
Ah yes, the little girl who brought me food. I'm Juan Supra.
"Oh yeah, now I remember. We really should hurry, you know. The werewolves are at about half strength now and they'll only get stronger the closer we get to the full moon."
How much farther is it?
"Oh, not much. We'll be just in time for dinner. Wait a minute..."
*Supra stopped and reached out to the night. He sensed 9 werewolves approaching quickly.*
I don't believe this. Nine of them? Is it always this exciting or is this a special occasion?
"I never remember the numbers, so I really can't say."
Here they come.
*The first 4 came all at once. Supra with both hands forced them all into a tree. He turned around to see one flying over Terry's shoulder. A moment later, another one was being tossed across the front of his body. Then, one was on his back. He looked like he knelt down and the werewolf suddenly fell to the ground in front of him. 2 more came at him, the first slashed at him, but Terry dodged on the outside, grabbed his wrist, and flipped the wolf man into the other one. That sent them both to the floor.*
Unbelievable!
*Supra was so shocked that he temporarily lost his concentration and loosened the 4 werewolves. The came at him but Supra forced them back again.*
"Yeah, these guys are a real workout right now, but when they're full werewolves I can't afford to play around like this."
*Terry pulled out something from a satchel at his waist. Supra could feel great power from the object as it suddenly came out from the satchel.*
What is that?
*It looked like an ordinary fire ax, but the ax head shone like a beacon. When the werewolves saw that, their faces showed a strange form of instinctual terror. They all scrambled away, even the ones Supra was holding against the tree. The rest of the trip was uneventful. His cabin was located right at the edge of the river, it also had a water mill. Once inside his daughter came to greet us.*
"Hi daddy, hi Mr. Supra."
"Hey sweetheart, why don't you get Mr. Supra something to drink."
"Okay."
*It wasn't much on the inside, the main room had a table. The mill was connected to a generator on a balcony. A ladder leads up to a second balcony with a girl's bed. The two men sat down at a wooden table. Supra's mind was still on the battle outside.*
What was that thing?
"I used to be a firefighter before Queen Vampire threw us out. This was a fire ax that I got from the station. The Slayers put some Runes on it before the Queen Vampire raided their camp and took all of their Rune Weapons. I don't think anyone knows I have it."
Rune Weapons?
"Oh yeah! See, there's this group of folks who knew all about these creatures and made special weapons to fight em. Once the Slayers started using em, the Queen Vampire took em."
*Kyra came back with 2 cups of tea. She then went upstairs.*
I can see how it was a fire ax, except the head was replaced by a silver one, and there's some kind of stone at the base.
"You can't see it, but some of the metal in that ax head is from my dad's badge. The station gave it to me after he was killed. They melted it down and poured it into a Rune they carved into the silver."
You mean the Slayers.
"Yeah. The stone at the bottom is really petrified wood. The top end is for the werewolves and the bottom is for the vampires. Most of the time the wolves just run away... I've never seen what happens to a vampire, they don't come out here too much."
Tell me more about the Slayers.
"Oh them? They're a bunch of regular folks who used to live in the city. They didn't like being thrown out so they got together and called out for people who knew stuff about monsters. Now, they're trying to retake the city."
What about the village?
"They call themselves a protectorate. Those people just wanted to close their eyes and pretend everything was okay. Protector Mavid is just the man to do that for them."
I'm guessing he's the one that held me underground all that time. You know, ever since I got here I've never once seen a hint of real technology until I was in there. How does he do it?
"His resources, he takes everything the people produce and ever owned in exchange for protection from the wolves. He uses his constructs for that."
His what?
"Oh yeah, he bought a Japanese company a few years back that was working on a new kind of 'synthetic life form.'"
Wait a minute... are you trying to tell me that those things are robots? Well, that would explain why I couldn't sense them or influence them. This is all too unbelievable.
"Every thing's in chaos now. That's why everything is divy'd up to just a few people. Mavid has his technology, the Slayers have their Rune Weapons... well had them, and Anna has the city. I just wish things would settle down, this world's no good for a little girl to grow up in. It's getting late, why not stay here tonight. I'll tell you the rest tomorrow."
*Terry offered the couch to Supra. While it was certainly more cushy than what he was used to, he took quite some time to fall asleep.*

*Supra had spent the day with Terry and his daughter. He'd learned quite a bit, and luckily, it seemed like he'd be able to count on Terry's help. Supra had brought the logs over to Terry's villa earlier that evening. Hopefully, Terry would get finished with them while Supra went to pay the Slayers a visit.*
*He left the cabin very quietly, being careful not to wake the family, and started back toward the city. Terry had given him instructions on how to reach the Slayers' hideaway. All he would have to do is follow the marks once he got closer. long the way he noticed a couple of werewolves attacking something. Supra was quite far away from them so the probably wouldn't come after him, but there must've been a large number of them for him to be able to sense them from so far away. He had to alter his route to evade them. Eventually, he found the city's entrance again. Hard to believe that their hideout would be so close to the gate. Supra pulled a paper from his pocket.*
Alright, so it's about 50 yards north of the gate along the wall.
*He started walking.*
I don't see anything that looks like an enclave... that big one maybe?
*There was a section along the wall that was built in a bit, because the forest was unruly at that location. Supra stood in the middle of that area looking carefully for something.*
Alright... so I wouldn't be able to see it from... oh there it is! I don't believe it. It's right in plain sight, built right into the wall. I wonder how they managed to stay hidden all this time?
*Supra decided to set up camp for the night and see them the next morning.*

*Melanie giggled loud enough for Supra to hear. She kept herself out of sight though. She felt like playing with him, so she decided to let him wonder if it was her voice he was hearing, or her thoughts. She liked confusion and chaos. It was how she became so powerful.*
